Soccer Team

Fall 2011 Soccer pictures
It was a fun season and we're looking forward to the Spring!

Halloween 2011

This year Tyler was Bumblebee from Transformers for Halloween.  I took the day off so I could go to the Halloween parade and to the class party later in the day.

Meet Bumblebee!

Tyler was so excited because his friend Michael was also dressed as a Transformer

Some happy boys... the result of lots of candy no doubt.

SO Grown UP!

It's amazing how fast kids grow!   This past year has been a great example but one that kind of snuck up on me until my mom sent me a picture she took of Tyler with his cousins sitting on Grandaddy's trailor that I compared to a similar picture she took last year around this same time.

Fall 2010
Look how little Syd and Tyler both look here!

Fall 2011
Oh my goodness!  They are ALL so HUGE!  Crazy how that happens!
I love these 4 so very much and Gran does a great job of capturing these moments with them all.

I can't wait to see how much they all grow and change in this coming year and next year we'll have another little guy to join them for this picture.  Very exciting for our little clan!

Soccer

This fall Tyler tried a new sport, Soccer.  We were all excited that it moves a little faster than t-ball and I think overall the season was a pretty good success.

About half of the team we joined had played last year so they were pretty good and the other half was new to the team and the sport like Tyler.  Yesterday was our last game and they ended the season with a 8-1-1 record which was great and more importantly all the boys improved and had fun!  We're looking forward to playing with the same kiddos in the Spring.

we started out the season with a game on a HOT day, 105 was the temp that day I believe... ICK but thankfully we ended the season with a MUCH milder 50 degree game YEA!!
Here Tyler is dressed and all ready for his first game.

Let the fun begin!

Tyler got a little action playing goalie for a few of the games too

sitting on the bench isn't all that fun, except when it's 105 degrees, then the shade is nice change

that's our little #6 in action

Random Happenings

A few pics from Shaun and Tyler's boys weekend in September when I went to Austin to visit my friend Amanda.  It was a busy weekend for my boys... Tyler had an early soccer game on Saturday morning and then a birthday party for his friend from school Michael at Legoland.  They had a great time.

posing with Lego Dirk and the championship trophy... this thing must have been impressive

I found these mustaches for my guys while I was out of town and they wasted no time putting them to use when I got him.  I love my silly guys!

Catching up.... again

2011 is just not the year of the blog for me.  I've been horrible at keeping up with updates.  So, with this and a few subsequent posts I'm going to try to catch up a little bit.
The end of the summer went by in a blur and we're already in October now.  Tyler moved to a new class at his school for PreK and started playing soccer.  Oh yea... also we're having a baby in January.  :)  Another little boy.  We're all very excited!

First day of Pre-K
I was actually able to get him to smile even though he was a bit put out with me for not letting him wear his usual "soft shorts" (basketball shorts) and T-shirt attire.  The things a Mom makes her boy do!

San Antonio trip 2011

A few weeks ago we made our annual trip to the Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch resort in San Antonio with my parents and my nieces.  This year we were excited to have Shaun join us on the trip.
Tyler just KNEW he would be tall enough to ride the slides this year but unfortunately he is still about 4 inches too short...  We still had a great time though!
his favorite thing to do is play in the sand

here he "supervising" Bailey and Hadley building something in the sand.... they think he's a little bossy

spraying Bailey with the water cannon

obviously she's terrified ; )

a game of tag with his incredibly tall older cousin

our attempt at recreating our annual picture of the kids... SOMEONE was not so cooperative this year!
later in a MUCH better mood being goofy in my sunglasses

hanging out with Grandaddy

Tuesday afternoon after lunch Shaun, Tyler and I drove into town and went to watch the Cowboys practice at training camp in the Alamodome.  It was nice to get out of the heat and we enjoyed seeing the practice.

After about 30 minutes of listening to Tyler ask "Where's Tony Romo? Where's Tony Romo? Where's Tony Romo?" FINALLY he came out and we got to see him practice!
Romo tossing the ball with Miles Austin

Running a few plays

Tyler playing Batman on his Leapster... afterall even for football a 4 year old only has a limited attention span

after the practice we went over to the Riverwalk, did the boat ride, explored a little and had some dinner before we headed back to the resort

As we always do on this trip we had a really fun time and it was nice to get to spend the week with Gran, Grandaddy, Bailey, Hadley and Sydney.  Next year we'll have a new little one to join in the fun and we're looking forward to it.

More T-ball Pics

Today was supposed to be the last game for Tyler's t-ball team for this season but the game was cancelled after all the rain yesterday so it will be rescheduled likely for sometime this week, we'll see.  Anyhow, I thought this was still a good time to post a few more t-ball pics.  One of Tyler's coaches, Coach Ruthie, took these great pictures at their game last weekend when it was COLD, hence the hoodie under Tyler's jersey.

I love how serious and excited he looks here (he must be thinking about the snack after the game.  ha!)  No, seriously, Coach Stuart, who is behind him has been working with them on the whole 1 foot on the bag, 1 foot on the dirt thing and Tyler's showing it off here.

and then there's the not so serious after rounding home and making his way back to the dug out... something about the tongue hanging out with my kid... he does it when he's running often.  I didn't think something like that could be hereditary but apparently it can be... I remember my Dad telling me all the time as a kid to close my mouth and keep my tongue in when I was running or trying to catch a ball.  Good thing I outgrew that.  :P

A Batman Birthday

Tyler celebrated his birthday the Saturday before Easter with a Batman birthday party at Going Bonkers in Lewisville.  Several of his fun friends from school were able to come and he was SO excited.  The kids ran wild through the tubes and climbing platforms for awhile before we had the party room, then we did cake & icecream, opened gifts (read: torn through), and then went upstairs to the arcade for some more fun.

Thanks to all our friends and family who could come and celebrate with Tyler.  He had a terrific time and now has more toys than he could dream he would.

Very cool Batman cake made by my talented friend Jennifer (she will take orders if anyone is interested)

Finally, we're having a birthday indoors where we can keep the candles lit!

Woo hoo!  A cutest family picture.  :)

My Favorite Guys!

The LOOT

Testing out one of his FAVORITE gifts... Batman costume!  Oddly, my child who is VERY afraid of adults dressed in costume (remember the clowns) LOVES to dress in costume himself.

The next morning he was excited to try out his painting book from Aunt Christine.

My Sweet FOUR year old on his actual birthday before school.
The final gifts from Shaun and I saved for his birthday evening (notice he's back in the costume, he he)

New Room, BIG boy bed

Tyler's been pushing the limits on the length of his toddler bed for awhile and tonight we finally got him moved into his new room and real BIG boy bed.  This afternoon while I was finising moving clothes, books and toys into the room he was playing on the top bunk and having a blast piling all his stuffed animals up there with him.

We're getting ready to put our house on the market, hopefully sometime in the next month, so we decided not to paint the room and just do some light decorating to keep the look pretty clean with an outer space them.

Many thanks to Shaun's dad for painting the art work for the walls.
He did an awesome job!
Also, thanks to Shaun's mom for making the Sun pillow.

This chest of drawers was part of a furniture set I had in my room when I was a little girl and I believe was my great grandmothers originally.  It has been painted many, many times and hopefully will hold up for many years to come.

Part of our preping the house for sale meant moving toys upstairs which Tyler was excited about since he's before he's only had a few toys in his room. When it came time for bed tonight he was a little nervous about the change, but seems to be snoozing away ok now.

Happy Birthday Tyler!!!

Oh my goodness how is it possible that my baby is 4 already!?!

Happy Birthday Tyler!  I could never sufficiently put in to words how happy it makes me to be your mom.  I love you more than I ever thought possible and I look forward to watching you grow more and more each year.  I love you!

First T-ball Game

Earlier this year I asked Tyler if he would rather play soccer or baseball and he chose baseball. So, Saturday was his first T-ball game. It was a beautiful day and we had a fun time at the ballpark. His league is all 3 & 4 year olds so everyone is pretty much on the same level learning the game now. They don't keep score yet (although Shaun kept score himself) and everyone gets a chance to bat and run the bases, 1 base at a time, so they don't really call outs even if you're team gets one. Tyler's team is The Angels and they played The Giants at this game. Technically, had outs been called, his team would have won, but who's counting right!? ; )
He was a little tentative before the game trying to figure out what was going to go on, but doesn't he look super cute?!!

waiting to bat for the first time

This was his second at bat... very serious concentration here.

The Thinker.... better than The Grass Picker which I didn't photograph
